FOLLOW-UP INSPECTION

This is a follow up inspection from 1/10/2025 for the meat department. Joined by Shai Lyn Donaldson, Investigator with USDA The meat department, deli meats aisle, meat freezer and walk in freezer was inspected. Observed one shelf for all returnables inside meat walk in cooler for items to shrink. Highly recommend providing a sign to inform employees. No nail polish remover or other unapproved products not observed in the meat department. Ensure proper labeling is provided for boxes received, found some boxes labeled as received on "3/4" when manager said they were received on "2/4" Ensure all required reports are properly documented as required by law, such as grinding reports etc.

    Found three packaged of 16 oz Foster Farms Turkey Franks without lot code however has a sticker that reads "Use By 040425" [CA] - Misbranded foods shall not be offered for sale. Due to no lot code, product should be returned to distributor. [COS] - Products were removed from the shelf and will be "shrinked" by the meat manager.

    Found meats to be "shrinked" on shelf near other meat products inside walk in cooler [CA] - Products that are held by the permit holder for credit, redemption, or return to the distributor, such as damaged, spoiled, or recalled products, shall be segregated and held in designated areas that are separated from food, equipment, utensils, linens, and single-use articles.

    Found a container of Nail Polish Remover on shelf next to spices inside the walk in cooler. [CA] - The premises of a food facility shall be free of litter and items that are unnecessary to the operation or maintenance of the facility Nail polish was discarded in the trash.

    On the sales floor, found packages of Oscar Mayer Smoked Uncured Ham, Smoked Turkey Breast and Ball Park Bun Sized Franks showing indication of spoilage, meat was brown in color and no manufacturer sell by date on the package, only a sticker sell by date. [CA] - All FOOD shall be manufactured, produced, prepared, compounded, packed, stored, transported, kept for sale, and served so as to be pure and free from adulteration and spoilage; shall have been obtained from approved sources; shall be protected from dirt, vermin, unnecessary handling, droplet contamination, overhead leakage, or other environmental sources of contamination; shall otherwise be fully fit for human consumption; and shall conform to the applicable provisions of the Sherman Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Law (Part 5 (commencing with Section 109875)). [COS] - The above meats were voluntarily discarded in the trash. See VC&D report for details.

Observed brown raw meat packaged with large pieces of cut onions and cilantro for sale. [CA] Food offered for human consumption shall be honestly presented in a way that does not mislead or misinform the consumer. Food or color additives, colored overwraps, lights or other misleading artificial means shall not be used to misrepresent the true appearance, color, or quality of a food. Facility shall not extend sell by dates or otherwise mislead the consumer.
